Indonesian Papua has the perfect terrain to document the effects of globalization on local communities. Indeed, in a very short period, these people and their cultures have been disrupted by the sudden opening to the world and the rampant 'modernization' that followed with its annexation by Indonesia in 1969. This ongoing project is supported by 'Fondation Indépendance', of the Banque Internationale à Luxembourg.
39 images"Positive is Negative - HIV/AIDS in the Central Highlands of Papua", is an ongoing project that aims to document the HIV/AIDS epidemic and its impact on individuals, families and indigenous communities. The first part of the project was conducted in January/February 2013 in the highland town of Wamena. The authors plan to return to the Central Highlands in the summer of 2013.
